Ari Aster’s Star-Studded Eddington Gets First Trailer

Joaquin Phoenix and Pedro Pascal argue in Eddington directed by Ari Aster

A24 has released the first trailer for its film Eddington, from acclaimed director Ari Aster, and you can watch it below!

Unveiled as part of this year’s Cannes Film Festival, Eddington is the latest from the Hereditary, Midsommar and Beau Is Afraid helmer and stars Oscar Winner Joaquin Phoenix (Joker), Pedro Pascal (Materialists), Austin Butler (Elvis), Michael Ward (Empire of Light) and Oscar Winner Emma Stone (Kinds of Kindness).

The genre-bender is set during the Covid-19 pandemic, watching as a standoff between a small-town sheriff (Phoenix) and mayor (Pascal) sparks a powder keg as neighbour is pitted against neighbour in Eddington, N.M. Eddington sees Aster and Phoenix reteam after Beau is Afraid, with Luke Grimes, Deirdre O’Connell rounding out the cast and drew a nearly seven-minute standing ovation when it premiered at Cannes last month.

After the success of Midsommar, Aster has since taken to telling more horror-less human stories, and the fact that his latest takes place during the pandemic makes this one even more interesting…

UPDATE: 11th June 2025Universal Pictures have sent us the UK version of the trailer, check it out below…

Eddington is due in US cinemas on July 18th and in the UK on August 22nd.
