Big Trouble In Little China To Get Sequel…As a comic

It’s hard to believe Big Trouble In Little China is 31 years old now, it didn’t surprise us of talk of potential remakes surfaced. But today we learned the cult John Carpenter movie is getting a sequel, hurrah! But it’s a comic book!
Those good folks at Screenrant unveiled the news late last night Jack Burton’s adventures are continuing in one last ride on the Pork Chop Express. The Boom! Studios will be releasing the comic book series as four parts under the title of Big Trouble In Little China: Old Man Jack (which follows a similar theme to the Logan movie).
The comic book will be drawn by Jorge Corona (We Are Robin, Teen Titans Go!) with Borderlands 2 Anthony Burch co-writing with the man who brought us the original movie John Carpenter!
Check out the comic book’s official synopsis
“The year is 2020, and hell is literally on Earth. Ching Dai, sick of relying on screw-ups like Lo Pan to do his bidding, has broken the barriers between Earth and the infinite hells, and declared himself ruler of all.
Sixty-year-old Jack Burton is alone in a tiny corner of Florida with only his broken radio to talk to, until one day it manages to pick up a message. Someone is out there in the hellscape, and they know a way to stop Ching Dai.”
The first issue is due out in September (not sure of the exact date for UK&Ireland), here’s the official cover art for issue one by Stephane Roux.
Comic books are not something we’ve covered much at the site before, but as we’re kids during the 1980’s we grew up with this cult movie and we loved it. Whilst some may not be bothered about John Carpenter’s involvement we do hope this comic book will be successful. That successful that it leads to a well-deserved finale to Jack Burton in the shape of a long overdue movie sequel!.
