Original Blade Writer David S. Goyer Tells Marvel “To Give Him A Call”

Original Blade screenwriter David S. Goyer has shared he would be willing to return for the long-delayed Marvel reboot.
He told ScreenRant that he would be happy to step back into the role of writer for the stalled project starring Mahershala Ali.
Goyer, who wrote all three films in the original Blade trilogy: Blade (1998), Blade II (2002), and Blade: Trinity (2004), joked that Marvel should “give [him] a call” to help move the film forward.
He added: “I would [write it]. I’ve always loved the character and I love him, and I’ve been sitting on the sideline wondering, ‘What in the world is going on? Why is it taking so long?’”
The Blade reboot was first announced at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019. Since then, the film has faced repeated delays, rewrites, and many changes. These changes have included several changes in directors and writers during the process.
“I’m a huge Marvel fan myself, and I’ve just been totally puzzled,” Goyer said.
Stacy Osei-Kuffour was originally brought on to write the script with Bassim Tariq as director. This is no longer the case as both exited the project. The writers currently on board are Michael Starrbury, Nic Pizzolatto, Michael Green, and Eric Pearson. Mia Goth is set to co-star as Lilith alongside Ali, who still remains attached to the film. No new production schedule or release date has been set yet.
