Our Bodies may get old year by year but our brains are just as youthful as we first , It’s all elementary as a new UK trailer for Mr Holmes arrives online. The myth that was Sherlock Holmes is explored in a new trailer which gives a slightly better understanding of the film’s storyline.

Academy Award nominee Ian McKellen takes on the iconic role of Detective Sherlock Holmes, one of the British literature’s most reveered characters in the forthcoming film, which sees the actor once again team up with his Gods And Monsters director Bill Condon.

In Mr Holmes we travel back to 1947, the world famous sleuth has retired to a remote Sussex farmhouse, living in relative anonymity with only his housekeeper Mrs Munro and her young son Roger for company. Cantankerous, demanding and frustrated with the mis-representation of him in Watson’s best-selling novels, he diverts his attention to an unsolved case. As the mystery deepens, Sherlock tries desperately to recall the events of 30 years ago that ultimately led to his retirement.

After a decade of charming us with his wisdom as Gandalf in the Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit films, it does feel a natural progression for the 76 year old actor to play, the worlds greatest sleuth. If they haven’t already he may also help introduce a literature masterpiece to geek film as he is Magneto in the X-men Franchise. It seems a intriguing prospect that even those old classics can still get a refreshing twist in 21st Century.

Mr Holmes is based on the A Slight Trick Of The Mind novel by Mitch Cullin, arriving in UK&Irish cinemas from 19th June (USA 17th July). The film co-stars Milo Parker,Laura Linney, Hiroyuki Sanada, Colin Starkey, s de la Tour, Phillip Davis and Roger Allam,
