Jenna Ortega And Taylor Russell Circling Single White Female Remake

A remake of classic 1990’s thriller Single White Female has been bubbling away for many years now, but it seems the project might be closer to fruition with news that two actors are in talks to star. (Via Variety, who reported The InSneider first reported the news)
No director has yet been set, but it seems Jenna Ortega (Beetlejuice Beetlejuice) and Taylor Russell (Bones and All) are in talks to star in the film in the roles made famous by Jennifer Jason Leigh and Bridget Fonda in the original. Sony and Elizabeth Gabler’s 3000 Pictures are producing the film.
The original, directed by Barbet Schroeder (Barfly), told the story of Bridget Fonda as a freshly single Manhattan-ite who has the misfortune of picking a clingy and awkward woman (Jennifer Jason Leigh) to be her roommate while she recovers from her breakup. The film was a box office hit when it was released, earning $84.1 million against a $16 million budget
Ortega will next be seen in Death of a Unicorn opposite Paul Rudd and Will Poutler, before she stars in secured the lead role opposite Michael B. Jordan in a new The Thomas Crown Affair film, which Jordan is directing.
No release date is yet set for the film.
