Love is revolution in the UK Trailer for indie LGBTQ drama Hipbeat.
The film is written, directed and starring Samuel Kay Forrest. Based on true events, the film is a narrative film that contains moments of realism- protests in Berlin provided inspiration. The film tells the story of a political activist fighting against the system while searching for love in the Berlin queer community.
You can see from the trailer the director is inspired by the films of Jean Luc Goddard, John Cassevetees, Sidney Lumet, Martin Scorcese and Steve Mcqueen, incorporating real elements of LGBTQ+ lived experience into its plot. To show the dedication for the film, the crew actually found themselves arrested at anti-facist protests. A testament to the threat of democracy in the modern world, universally, there is a heightened feeling of political unrest and those involved in the film’s production wanted to encapsultate this feeling.
Love is revolution…Angy is a political activist fighting against the system while searching for love in the Berlin queer community. They protest by day and rave at night in the underground of the city.
The film’s cast includes Samuel Kay Forrest, Beatrix Michelet, Andriana Manfredi, Marie Céline Yildirim, Enzo de Liguoro, Ian Loughran, Jurgen van Nes, Javier Taboada, Filip Süt Rutkowski, Judy LaDivina, and Helmut Wößner.
Hipbeat will be released in the UK and Ireland on Digital Platforms (Apple TV, Amazon Prime, Dekkoo, YouTube, Google Play) from 14th February.
